I am a photographer in the Triangle, North Carolina, specializing in black and white portraits. I also am happy to shoot color! I love working with people of all ages, and documenting their life. Day in the Life sessions are my absolute favorite, spending half of the day or a full day with a family, capturing real life as it unfolds. From the children waking up in the morning, to them reading their bedtime stories, I capture moments balancing light and mood that will be preserved as your family history.
I have been photographing in the Raleigh area for 14 years! I have loved seeing my clients grow and change over the years. Some of my first clients are now driving, brides have become mothers, and some families have grown with more siblings. I love spending time with each client as I photograph them, as well as throughout the whole process of viewing proofs and ordering. It is a relationship not a just a job to me.
I am one of the few photographers who still shoots film. I shoot with a Mamiya medium format camera, the negative is much larger than 35mm, which means the grain is fine, and that transfers to a really beautiful print from our darkroom. The whole process for me is what I love- from the camera with it’s waist-level viewfinder that allows me to have eye-contact with my clients instead of a camera over my face, to the final proofs which are 4×5 in size…you can hold them in your hand, lay them in a series on the table, or frame one immediately! This is the way I love to work everyday, making art not just taking pictures.
I am available for sessions in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, as well as the beach and mountains. Or anywhere else you would like for me to travel! I do not photograph weddings or events, it is a different way of shooting that has never fit my personality. I love to photograph children, families, couples, pregnancy, senior portraits, bridal portraits…any combination of people you can think of.
