They also offer massage, facials with locally made organic skin products, and acupuncture!

February First Friday in Raleigh!

Well, I decided to give up on some computer issues we are having to write a little about this weekend, and events coming up! I haven’t written in a while- I think it was a combination of artist’s block, the winter blues, and the flu! So I am trying to catch up! This Friday there is a lot going on in Raleigh! The weather may be a little messy, but I am ready to get out of my house- see some art, and enjoy someone else’s cooking for a night! Soooo, First of all- the Elizabeth Galecke Photography/ MoodSwing jewelry collaboration will be at Found Studio for First Friday festivities. Stop by the gallery at 16 Glenwood Ave(Glenwood South) between 6-9pm and say hello and check it out along with a bunch of other amazing artists work! We also have pieces of our work at the Collector’s Gallery Downtown. It is a fun space to check out! They will be open for First Friday as well!

In Boylan Heights there is a toy camera photo exhibit. All of the photographs were taken with plastic camera using FILM!  Being a film shooter, that makes me happy! I didn’t get it together to enter anything, but have some friends exhibiting with amazing work! I can’t wait to check it out! This is at Rebus Gallery from 6-9pm this Friday and will be up for the month.

If you are looking for a place to eat while hitting the town this weekend, there are so many great places to try! Here are a few of my fav’s!  Zely and Ritz, Pooles Diner, Remedy, Raleigh Times, Humble Pie

Hope to see you out and about!

New jewelry collaboration with Mood Swing!

Vignettes: A Series in Wearable Heirlooms by Mood Swing and Elizabeth Galecke Photography

What a whirlwind few weeks it has been! Between holiday work, Chix in Business and a new collaboration, my head is spinning! I wanted to write a little about this new collaboration with my good friend, Kristen, aka Mood Swing. She makes the most incredible jewelry- and I am so excited to be working with her on these necklaces.

I have a bzillion personal images that I have taken over the years. I love to photograph these little “Vignettes” – usually landscape or architecture-in my time off- capturing quiet moments- filtering out distractions both in my mind and through my lens. This time is a complete contrast to my everyday shooting of families and children, where things are loud, wild and playful, sometimes bordering on out of control:)  I have tried different ways to produce these Vignettes, using Polaroid transfers as well as printing them small, straight from the negative. But these necklaces are so perfect at framing this work and displaying  it in a way that fits the vision of how I see them. Looking into the concave lens(a vintage eyeglass lens) that mimics a camera lens, surrounded by soldered metal that has been oxidized then waxed- you see a tranquil perhaps almost haunting  place. I have the images printed as giclees- using archival inks.  They are wearable pieces of art- built to last and hopefully loved a long time too!

Right now you can purchase them at the Collector’s Gallery in downtown Raleigh, a mod, all- glass building, right next to the skating rink- …443 Fayetteville Street. They are open Tues-Sat. 10-6 and Sunday 12-4  The gallery sells beautiful glass, pottery and jewelry- most are local and regional artists. Check out

They are hosting an open house on Monday December 14th from 4-8 pm! Stop by and check it out!
